No Trophy Hunting for Greater Yellowstone Grizzlies

Ignoring strong public and tribal support for preserving Endangered Species Act protections for Wyoming’s grizzly bears, the state’s Department of Game and Fish has proposed trophy hunting of grizzlies in the Greater Yellowstone region starting this September.

New Farm Bill Full of Merde -- Read more
New Farm Bill Full of Merde

It's hard to exaggerate how brazenly anti-environmental the farm bill now wending its way through the U.S. House of Representatives truly is. Let's see... it exempts pesticides from the Endangered Species and Clean Water Acts. It boosts logging, removes environmental reviews, and makes it easier to build roads in national forests. It undermines sustainable agriculture, makes it tougher for people to qualify for nutrition assistance, and tips the scales toward corporate interests and away from small farmers. Get the picture? The bill is likely to come up for a full House vote this month.

Urge your representative to oppose the farm bill.

No Trophy Hunting for Greater Yellowstone Grizzlies

Ignoring strong public and tribal support for preserving Endangered Species Act protections for Wyoming's grizzly bears, the state’s Department of Game and Fish has proposed trophy hunting of grizzlies in the Greater Yellowstone region starting this September. Bears could be killed as soon as they step out of the national parks, except for a small buffer area east of the Tetons and north of Jackson Hole. This is a bad proposal for grizzlies and a bad proposal for the Greater Yellowstone region.

Tell Wyoming Governor Matt Mead to exercise his influence and stop the trophy hunt.

"Democracy Itself Is at Stake"

"After 14 months of Trump, our worst fears have been more than confirmed," says Sierra Club associate communications director Javier Sierra in a candid interview. "It breaks my heart to see millions of my compadres living in fear and disproportionately exposed to climate degradation. Latino voters have the power to affect the outcome of crucial races across the country that could radically reshape the country’s political landscape. The problem is that Latinos tend to skip non-presidential-year elections. But there's too much at stake this time around."

Race Against the Clock in the Arctic

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has begun the environmental review process for drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge—the first step toward opening it up to Big Oil. This process would normally require years of environmental review, public input, and consultations with tribes, but President Trump and Interior Secretary Zinke are determined to make drilling a fait accompli in the nation’s largest wildlife refuge before a new administration can reverse their decision.

The BLM is accepting public comments until June 19.

Tell the BLM you are vehemently opposed to opening this national treasure to oil drilling.
